Congratulations to Annika and Olga, who successfully defended/completed their Master’s projects! 🎉 Both Annika and Olga assessed the extent to which choice of SNP calling pipeline affects time-scaled phylogeny construction…but they worked with completely different organisms! Annika studied Salmonella DT104, a multidrug-resistant foodborne zoonotic pathogen, while Olga studied methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)…and interestingly, both pathogens produced different results, which we hope to follow up on in the future! 🔬

Both Annika and Olga did an amazing job this semester! 🎊 We look forward to working with them in the future, as Annika will be starting a PhD in Dr. Chinmay Dwibedi’s lab, while Olga will be joining us in the fall for her Master’s thesis project! 🤗
